When does a call become billable?
A connected call becomes billable after it clears the buffer stated for its campaign. Current Inboundsify™ campaigns use either a 10- or 30-second threshold.
The opening buffer lets the agent promptly confirm the campaign criteria. If the call ends before the applicable threshold, it does not become billable under the duration rule. Once the connected call passes the threshold, the campaign charge applies. A billable call is not a guaranteed application, approval, placement, commission, or retained policy.
How to calculate cost per application and cost per sale
Price per call is only the starting point. The more useful measures are cost per application, cost per placed policy, and cost per retained policy.
- Cost per applicationTotal billable-call spend ÷ completed applications.
- Cost per placed policyTotal billable-call spend ÷ policies issued and placed.
- Cost per retained policyTotal billable-call spend ÷ policies still active at the checkpoint you use.
- Net acquisition costCall spend plus labor and operating expense, adjusted for chargebacks, divided by retained policies.
Example: 20 billable calls at $70 cost $1,400. If those calls produce four applications, the call cost per application is $350. If three policies place, the call cost per placed policy is about $467. If two remain active at the measured checkpoint, the call cost per retained policy is $700. This example demonstrates the math only; it is not a promised conversion rate.
Why two $70 calls can have different economic value
The same unit price can produce different results because economics also depend on caller eligibility, agent availability, opening script, carrier fit, application completion, underwriting, placement, premium, commission structure, and persistency. A campaign should therefore be judged over a meaningful sample and through the full policy lifecycle.
Track each campaign separately: billable calls, applications, issued policies, placed policies, annual premium, commission received, chargebacks, retained policies, and agent time. Comparing only the advertised call price can hide the cost that matters most.

Questions to ask before buying calls
| Question | Why it affects cost |
|---|---|
| Who initiated the call? | Consumer-initiated calls and live transfers create different workflows. |
| What happens before connection? | Advertising, questionnaire, IVR, and screening shape caller expectations. |
| Exactly when does billing begin? | The threshold determines exposure on short or mismatched calls. |
| Is the live connection exclusive? | Exclusivity should describe how the active opportunity is routed. |
| Can I control states and availability? | Poor routing fit can waste both calls and agent time. |
| What is the system of record? | Written measurement and dispute rules reduce billing ambiguity. |
Frequently asked questions
How much does one final expense inbound call cost?
Current rates are $30 per billable call for Social Media Final Expense, $60 for Premium TV Final Expense, and $70 for Premium Pre-Qualified Final Expense campaigns.
How much would 10 final expense inbound calls cost?
Ten billable calls cost $300 at the Social Media rate, $600 at the Premium TV rate, or $700 at the Premium Pre-Qualified rate. This does not predict call availability or sales results.
What is the cost per final expense sale?
Cost per sale depends on your results. Divide total billable-call spend by the number of placed policies. Include labor, operating expense, and chargebacks when calculating a complete acquisition cost.
Does every connected call get charged?
No. Under the published duration rule, the connected call must clear the buffer stated for its campaign before the call charge applies. Final campaign terms govern billing.
