GUIDE / CALL QUALIFICATION
What is a 30-second call buffer?
A 30-second call buffer is the opening connected-time period an agent can use to confirm that a final expense caller meets the campaign criteria. Under the standard Inboundsify™ campaign rule, a call that ends before 30 seconds does not become billable under the duration threshold. Once it passes 30 seconds, the campaign charge applies.
How the buffer works
- The caller connects to an available agent. The tracking platform begins measuring connected time under the campaign rules.
- The agent starts the qualification script. The agent confirms criteria such as age range, banking status, coverage intent, and disqualifying conditions defined for the campaign.
- An unqualified call can end within the buffer. If the call ends before 30 seconds, it does not become billable under the standard duration rule.
- The call becomes billable after the threshold.Once connected time passes 30 seconds, the published standard campaign price applies.
What does “call buffer” mean?
A call buffer is a short connected-time window at the beginning of a routed call. It gives the receiving agent time to identify the caller, confirm the insurance purpose, and check the campaign criteria before the duration-based charge begins.
The phrase does not describe hold time, a prerecorded delay, or a guaranteed-quality period. It is a billing and qualification threshold. The applicable duration can vary by campaign, so buyers should confirm the exact timer, qualification standard, tracking system, and dispute rules before accepting calls.
What agents should confirm
The buffer is for a focused qualification conversation, not a waiting period. Agents should promptly confirm the campaign requirements supplied during onboarding.

What the buffer does not mean
The buffer does not guarantee a sale, an application, underwriting approval, a placed policy, commission, persistency, or profitability. It also does not mean every short call failed qualification; the billing result follows the campaign’s connected-time rule and system of record.
This guide covers the 30-second Premium Pre-Qualified campaigns. Social Media and Premium TV campaigns currently use a 10-second threshold. Always rely on the terms confirmed for the specific campaign.
Example timeline
| Connected time | Example activity | Billing status under duration rule |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 seconds | Greeting and reason for the call | Inside buffer |
| 10–20 seconds | Confirm priority campaign criteria | Inside buffer |
| 20–29 seconds | Complete the initial qualification check | Inside buffer |
| 30+ seconds | Continue the qualified sales conversation | Billable |

Frequently asked questions
Does a call become billable at exactly 30 seconds?
For a campaign with a 30-second buffer, the charge applies once the connected call passes that threshold, subject to the campaign terms and tracking system of record.
Can I hang up before 30 seconds if the caller is unqualified?
For a 30-second campaign, yes. The buffer is designed to let the agent confirm the stated campaign criteria before the duration threshold.
Do all Inboundsify™ calls have a 30-second buffer?
No. Premium Pre-Qualified Final Expense campaigns use a 30-second buffer, while current Social Media and Premium TV campaigns use a 10-second buffer.
